Modi Highlights Youth-Led Development as Hallmark of NDA Government’s 12-Year Journey

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said youth-led development has been a defining feature of the NDA government’s 12-year tenure. Highlighting achievements in technology, manufacturing, start-ups, semiconductors, drones and sports, he credited government initiatives for empowering young Indians and fostering innovation across the country.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government remains firmly committed to youth-led development, asserting that one of the most significant features of the past 12 years has been the confidence with which India’s young people have pursued their ambitions and aspirations.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said Indian youth are making remarkable contributions across a wide range of sectors, including science and technology, manufacturing, space exploration, semiconductors and drone technology. He noted that young Indians are increasingly shaping industries that will influence the future of both the nation and the world.

“The NDA government is one that is strongly working towards youth-led development. One of the defining features of the last 12 years has been the confidence with which India’s youth have pursued their aspirations,” Modi said.

Highlighting key government initiatives aimed at empowering young people, the Prime Minister said programmes such as Startup India, Digital India, Skill India and the Atal Innovation Mission have helped create an ecosystem that promotes innovation, entrepreneurship and enterprise. According to him, these initiatives have enabled young Indians to transform ideas into successful ventures and contribute to economic growth.

Modi further stated that India has emerged as one of the world’s leading start-up destinations, with many success stories being driven by young entrepreneurs from smaller towns and rural regions. He said the growing participation of youth in innovation and business reflects the expanding opportunities available across the country.

The Prime Minister also praised the achievements of Indian youth in sports, noting that young athletes have brought significant recognition to the nation through their performances in various international competitions. He said their accomplishments have consistently enhanced national pride and demonstrated India’s growing presence on the global sporting stage.

Emphasising the government’s efforts to strengthen the sports sector, Modi said improved infrastructure, a stronger sporting ecosystem and enhanced support for athletes are creating fresh opportunities for young talent. These measures, he added, are encouraging more young people to pursue sports as a career.

Modi first assumed office as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister born after the country attained Independence. He began his second term on May 30, 2019, and was sworn in for a third consecutive term on June 9, 2024, following another victory in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

On June 10 this year, Modi surpassed the record of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, by completing more than 4,398 days in office as an elected Prime Minister after the 1952 general elections. Nehru served as the head of an interim government from 1947 to 1952 before the country conducted its first general elections.

The Prime Minister’s remarks underscore the government’s continued emphasis on empowering young citizens, positioning them as key drivers of innovation, economic growth, technological advancement and sporting excellence in India’s development journey.
